Unique Properties
A seamless pattern design which is created as the first step by hand sketching different type of flowers, building up the composition of the first sketch and colorizing it with color pencils and markers. Then They are scanned and taken into the computer as a digital file where the color modification, adding background and the final composition and repeating has to take a place. The darkest part contrast represents the negative subjects in the world but the whole design composition has more bright and vivid colors which represent the positivity that will conquer finally and will grow even more with newborn flowers. The floral theme by itself also is one of the trends of SS 2020, as the fabric pattern piece is designed for fashion services, it suits well with the fashion trends. Also, the colors are inspired and adjusted respecting fashion trend colors SS2020.

Design Challenge
A challenge was about expressing myself through my piece and because of that, I spent time in my own head to figure out how do I link my emotions and feelings with the final result.
Project Duration
The project started in December 2019 in Naples and finished in January 2020 in Naples.
Operation Flow
The Pattern design by itself is dedicated to fashion sectors. The sample print presented, is printed on Poplin Organic Cotton which is a lightweight fabric and suitable for SS 2020 use. Since the fabric material by itself is a natural fiber, it is biodegradable, and it doesn’t fill up waterways or contribute to other forms of pollution.
Research
The first part of research began through searching among the floral tendency of 1960-1970 trough the history lectures to understand and going even more deeply into those years conditions and then comparing the situation with today’s world. The second part comes from the SS 2020 Fashion theme and color trend which I found a common theme that was the symbol of my inspiration. Finally, I completed it by creating an inspirational mood board where I tried to mix some related sketches with my inspiration images beside my color palette to have a clear vision for the final result.
Inspiration
The inspiration comes from an emblematic photograph by Bernie Boston taken during an anti-war demonstration in 1967, showing a young man placing flowers in the barrels of riot policeman’s rifles. 1967 was also the year of the Summer of Love, flowers were omnipresent symbols of love and peace, worn in the hair and painted on faces and bodies. Nowadays there is a lot of negativity in the world where they got different subjects. So I took my inspiration from the flowers as a symbol to express that idea that even with all the today’s negative emotions, there are more beauties, those come from nature and I think with bringing them in everyday life, it gives us more positive energy and encourages us to be peaceful, love each other as well as respect each other.
