Production Technology
Crystal home decor collection primarily utilizes resin as its main material. In the design process, special attention is given to the characteristics of crystal and its interaction with light. This results in the creation of crystal with precise folds and unique forms, enabling it to have a distinctive interplay with light and shadow.
Design Challenge
The manufacturing process can be more challenging with traditional glasses. The primary reason for choosing 3D resin printing is that this design features numerous intricate folds at different angles. Using 3D printing allows for precise and efficient presentation of each angle, enabling effective interaction with light and shadows. In design, it is important to consider the connection between the form and the material, aiming to create a home decor item that is well-designed, appealing to people, and reminiscent of the essence of crystal. The goal is to achieve a balance where the design reflects both the intentional design elements and the inherent beauty of crystal itself.

The project started in Jan 2022 and finished in May 2022 in Brooklyn, USA
Operation Flow
Crystals have the ability to bring a sense of calm to the mind. When placed on a tabletop at home, they serve as unique artistic pieces that interact with the changing light and shadows throughout the day, creating a playful variation. Using them provides a profound appreciation for the present moment. When a crystal is combined with water in a vase, it produces a different atmospheric sensation through refraction and shapes. Similarly, when used as a fruit bowl or tray, it reflects various colors depending on the fruits placed within it.
Research
This is a home decor design series that explores psychology and aims to enhance the interaction between individuals and their home accessories. Research indicates that people are particularly sensitive to light within their homes, and their moods can vary throughout the day due to the changing sunlight and indoor lighting conditions. In the design of crystal, various lines, forms, and surfaces are carefully crafted to interact and transform with light, while also providing aesthetic appeal. This allows users to experience the different reflections and sensations created by crystal in response to light. This home decor collection is made from translucent resin, a material known for its ability to bring a sense of tranquility and calm. By incorporating crystal into the home, it can contribute to soothing and calming one's mind.
