Perched on the shores of Mondsee Lake in Austria, the solar-powered wooden house stands as a beacon of sustainability. Its sleek design seamlessly blends with the surrounding landscape, while solar panels adorn the roof, harnessing the sun's energy to power the entire dwelling. With panoramic views of the tranquil lake and the lush greenery, this eco-friendly retreat offers both comfort and harmony with nature.

The house is made entirely of wood using CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) technology. All finishes outside and inside are natural wood. Energy for heating is obtained from 3 geothermal probes and integrated photovoltaic panels. Modern control technology regulates the automated opening of windows and sunshades.
The challenge was to fit the house into the beautiful surroundings and get as much space and living comfort as possible within a small plot of land.
The project started 2021 and finished in 2024. Location: Mondsee, Austria.
The house is extremely energy efficient in operation and, using mainly wood as a construction material, used minimal resources in its construction
The aim of the project was to practically demonstrate the potential of natural ventilation in a single-family home by utilizing the chimney effect to stimulate airflow driven by temperature differences. Additionally, the behavior of the house when using geothermal heating in conjunction with photovoltaics integrated into the roof surface is monitored.
Inspired by the rugged mountainous surroundings, the design of this house mirrors the organic forms of the nearby peaks. Natural materials like wood harmonize with the landscape, while the segmented structure resembles the rocky outcrops in the backdrop. Each window frames breathtaking views of Mondsee Lake and the majestic mountains, ensuring the house seamlessly integrates into its stunning surroundings.
