The design inspiration comes from the global travel of the Three Squirrels. The outer box is made of cardboard and synthetic leather to create a delicate texture. It contains eight unique nut jars from different regions, each adorned with IP travel illustrations that blend traditional Chinese mountain and water strokes. Through the theme of Mountain and Sea Tasting, it vividly showcases the wonderful stories of collecting nuts from different regions.

Unique Properties
This gift box combines colors of red, blue, and gold, creating a striking visual impact. It contains eight cans of nuts, each with illustrations that represent both the brand IP and the origin of the nuts. The theme incorporates traditional Chinese brushwork landscape painting, featuring mountainous and oceanic scenes with subtle brand IP characters integrated. The calligraphy, inspired by Clerical Script, while the side pattern design is simplified to enhance the gift box’s refined elegance.

Production Technology
The material is made of cardboard as the main body of the gift box, with synthetic leather wrapping and sealing the top, leather handles to increase the delicate sense of touch, corners and details of the box using gold-plated metal feet to prevent the box from being deformed by the impact. The illustration lines and text on the outer box are embossed by hot stamping process, the inner can is made of silver glossy metal, the content is printed on it to realize the frosted glossy texture.
Design Challenge
This project was a high-end program deployed by the brand in the nut segment, complementing the high-end gift boxes that were missing from the product matrix. The brand pursues packaging with visual impact, which should be able to visually express the content of the product. Based on the positioning of the high-end nut gift box, we thought it was key to de-colorize and de-hyphenate, reducing the color of the brand logo itself and making it more unified with the design.
Project Duration
The project started in November 2023 in Beijing and finished in January 2024 in Beijing, was produced in July 2024 and officially on sale in September 2024.
Operation Flow
To ensure the integrity of the picture, the box is opened from the side by a metal locking mechanism. There are no extra complicated steps to open the gift box, and the products can be seen neatly arranged directly after opening the box. Due to the large size of the box, a carrying handle is placed on the top of the box for the user's convenience. In order to minimize the burden on the user, the gift box is supported by high quality cardboard to reduce the weight.
Research
This project perfectly combines the urban landscapes of different regions with brand IP, and through exquisite illustrations and narratives, allows consumers to taste food while also experiencing the customs and traditions of different parts of the world. This gift box not only meets the pursuit of quality by high-end consumer groups, but also creates a unique consumer experience through storytelling packaging design, effectively enhancing the brand's premium ability.
Inspiration
The inspiration of design is to travel with Three Squirrels. In order to be able to show the high quality of the product and the variety of origins. The outer box is styled with a hand-held vintage suitcase as inspiration. The gift box contains 8 jars of different nuts from different countries or regions, and 8 vignettes have been created to incorporate the brand's IP, Three Squirrels, to represent the high quality nuts brought back by Three Squirrels traveling to different regions.
Project Overview
Mountain Sea Rare Treasure Premium Nut Gift Box has been a Silver winner in the Packaging Design award category in the year 2024 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
