Unique Properties

Conexion introduces a dual interface design for expectant couples, offering separate yet interconnected experiences. The wife’s interface focuses on health tracking and emotional support, while the husband’s provides actionable methods to engage in the relationship. Through real-time mood sharing, health tracking, and guided support, it strengthens bonds during pregnancy, combining emotional intelligence with practical guidance, setting it apart from traditional solutions.

Production Technology

Conexion was developed using a user centered design approach, combining biometric sensing and AI driven emotional analysis for personalized recommendations. The Apple Watch detects mood fluctuations with pressure and heart rate sensors, while the app uses emotion tracking algorithms and health data APIs for real time sharing. Cloud based architecture ensures seamless device synchronization, with design elements created using Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.

Design Challenge

The challenge was creating an intuitive, empathetic design that addresses the emotional complexity of pregnancy. Balancing personalization with simplicity, especially when using AI and health data, was tough. We also had to consider historical and social factors like gender roles in pregnancy. Technical issues like real-time syncing and emotion tracking accuracy added complexity. Incorporating fun, engaging elements like gamification without losing the app's supportive tone was crucial.

Project Duration

The project started in October 2023 in Savannah, Georgia and was initially completed the 1st phase develop in October 2024.

Operation Flow

Conexión simplifies the pregnancy journey with two intuitive interfaces for husbands and wives. After selecting their role during registration, users receive tailored notifications and insights. The system tracks emotional and physical states via Apple Watch, sharing real-time updates between partners to foster empathy. Weekly pregnancy milestones, expert advice, and reminders for appointments or partner messages keep couples informed and connected. By blending emotional reflection with practical guidance, Conexión strengthens bonds and ensures a smoother, more supportive pregnancy experience.

Research

The research focused on understanding the emotional and physical needs of expectant couples. We conducted qualitative interviews and surveys with couples, analyzing the data through thematic coding. The study highlighted the importance of emotional support for both partners and the need for tailored guidance throughout pregnancy. This approach challenged the norm of apps only catering to women, expanding our understanding of support needs and influencing both design and societal views on pregnancy care.

Inspiration

Pregnancy is a transformative journey, but it also brings emotional uncertainty and communication barriers. Expectant fathers want to support their partners but often struggle to understand how, while mothers experience physical and emotional changes that are hard to express. Despite growing attention to maternal health, relationship dynamics are often overlooked. Recognizing this gap, we set out to create a product that strengthens emotional bonds and fosters shared understanding.
