Sneakpeak is a mobile app that makes exclusive sneaker releases easier for sneakerheads to track. Users can customize the sneakers they want to track through personalized alerts, a calendar view, and home screen widgets for quick updates. The interactive countdown room lets users chat and connect live while waiting for a drop, making the experience feel shared with the sneaker community.

User research was the foundation of the design process. Through interviews and journey mapping with sneakerheads, I identified key frustrations including, scattered information across platforms, lack of personalization, and poor drop-day experiences. Using Figma, FigJam, and Notion, I prototyped and tested solutions iteratively.
A key challenge was designing a tool that felt useful to users who want to monitor sneaker releases. The challenge was to include features of community engagement and user customization, so users would continue to use the platform. Ideally, Sneakpeak would be a place where users interact with others while being a database of a sneaker's history, value, and interest.
The project started in February 2023 in New York and finished in May 2025 in Brooklyn, New York.
Users interact with Sneakpeak through a personalized dashboard where they track selected sneaker they want to track via the sneaker calendar. The interactive countdown room activates before each drop, enabling live chat and shared anticipation. The app improves the experience by reducing clutter, focusing only on desired drops, and transforming anxious waiting into social engagement within the sneaker community.
User-centered research aimed to understand frustrations around sneaker releases. I used surveys, interviews, and community observation to gather data from sneakerheads. Participants shared common pain points including lack of personalization, bad drop-day experiences, and alternative hacks they do. Insights led to features like tracking customization and the interactive waiting room, improving both individual planning and community connection.
After each sneaker drop, I would often scroll through online forums to see the collective disappointment from those who missed out. I also felt disconnected with the uneventful confirmation screen. I wanted to design a platform that better reflects the lively discussions and reactions on social media before and following anticipated releases.
