LSV, Urban Mobility, Mobility Platform
This project applies a standardized battery and platform system across different vehicle sizes, significantly reducing development cost and shortening production time. Modular scalability ensures flexibility while maintaining quality, enabling rapid realization from concept to market.
The hardest part was understanding the North American lifestyle and how people prefer to board and use low-speed vehicles for short, frequent trips. Defining the right entry design and usability features was not obvious. We conducted on-site visits and months of field research, observing communities and users directly. This process revealed insights that guided the accessible design and ensured cultural fit.
The project was carried out in Korea from April to September 2025, and it is currently in the mock-up stage. The team is preparing to participate in the PGA Show to be held in Orlando, Florida in 2026.
The vehicle is designed for effortless daily use in communities and urban areas. Wide entry space and low ground clearance make getting in and out simple, while adjustable seats allow comfort for all ages. Easy steering and intuitive controls ensure smooth driving. Its standardized platform enhances efficiency, while the design focuses on safety, comfort, and inclusive mobility, making it more practical and enjoyable than conventional small vehicles.
The research for this project was based on a user-centered design study combined with market analysis. The objective was to understand the rising demand for sustainable and versatile low-speed vehicles in North America, especially in urban neighborhoods and community environments, as well as in commercial sectors such as resorts, golf courses, and logistics. The methodology combined field observations, competitor benchmarking, and ergonomic studies. We analyzed how people of different age groups enter, exit, and interact with vehicles, while also studying community traffic patterns and lifestyle trends. For data collection and tools, we used anthropometric standards such as sae j826,jJ1100, and j941, along with CAS modeling, digital mock-ups, and physical prototypes. User trials were conducted with participants across a wide age range to evaluate accessibility, comfort, and usability. The results showed that accessibility was one of the biggest barriers in existing low-speed vehicles. By widening the space between the A and B pillars and lowering the ground clearance, entry and exit became significantly easier. Adjustable seating was found to be critical in making the vehicle comfortable for diverse users, from teenagers to elderly passengers. The insights gained highlighted that design for community mobility is not just about function, but also about inclusivity and user dignity. This research impacted the design by reinforcing the importance of human-centered ergonomics, while the use of a standardized battery and platform system provided scalability and efficiency. In real-life terms, the research supports Daedong Mobility’s broader vision of creating mobility solutions that go beyond transportation. It provides business value by reducing development costs and production time through platform standardization, societal value by enabling safer and more inclusive community transport, and design value by setting a new benchmark for the next generation of compact mobility solutions.
The inspiration for this project lies in creating a mobility solution built on a standardized battery and platform system across vehicle sizes. This approach enables not only commercial applications but also easy and accessible use in urban and community settings. The scalable structure, from small to large formats, supports diverse needs such as resorts, golf courses, logistics, and neighborhood transport, ensuring efficiency and readiness for production. Equally important, the form language of this vehicle was carefully developed to align with Daedong Mobility’s existing design identity while looking toward the future. Drawing from the gs100 motorcycle currently in production, the design integrates sharp proportions, dynamic surfaces, and a sense of agility, embodying the sleek aesthetics associated with electric vehicles. This continuity ensures a recognizable brand image, while projecting a futuristic vision of mobility that balances practicality with style. At the same time, the design aspires to go beyond transportation, offering experiences that transform daily lifestyles. Inspiration was drawn from the pursuit of safe, efficient, and enjoyable mobility within complex traffic environments, while embracing the values of freedom, practicality, and sustainability found in the North American lifestyle. As a company, Daedong Mobility develops products across multiple fields with the vision of creating vehicles that serve diverse purposes beyond mere transportation. This project reflects that philosophy, showing how next-generation compact mobility can become not just a vehicle, but a new cultural way of living.
