This project stands out for its innovative use of multifunctional joinery and concealed storage systems, which optimize a relatively limited floor area without compromising on spaciousness. The application of curved wooden fronts demonstrates artisanal mastery while enhancing tactile connection with natural materials. The penthouse was realized using high-precision, custom joinery and curved wooden fronts, crafted to optimize space and tactile experience. Modular track lighting with interchangeable fixtures minimized structural impact. Smart-home systems integrate lighting, HVAC, and security for efficient control. Sustainable materials and energy-conscious installations were prioritized, ensuring durability, circularity, and minimal environmental footprint throughout the construction process.
Designing a modern penthouse for two generations within a compact layout required overcoming significant spatial challenges. Creating a sense of independence for family members while ensuring fluid circulation and visual harmony demanded careful planning. Technical coordination of smart systems for lighting, climate control, and security also posed complexities. Despite these difficulties, the project maintained its sustainable dimension: careful material selection, energy efficient installations, and solutions supporting circularity all underline a commitment to environmentally responsible design.
The project was developed over a period of twelve months in the heart of Old Town in Warsaw. The penthouse occupies the two top floors of a modern residential building offering panoramic views of iconic landmarks such as the Krasinski Square courts, the Palace of the Republic and surrounding high rises. The central location ensures accessibility while maintaining privacy for the family.
The penthouses layout ensures smooth interaction between private and shared areas. The lower level hosts the elder family members apartment and a study while internal stairs connect to the upper living spaces with a kitchen, dining and master suite. Smarthome systems control lighting climate and security allowing intuitive operation. Furniture and storage are arranged to optimize flow comfort and accessibility throughout.
This study explores the design of a contemporary two-level penthouse by Roland Stanczyk, emphasizing spatial efficiency, multifunctional solutions, and aesthetic harmony. It highlights sustainable design, circularity, and responsible material use, showing how modern residential interiors can combine comfort, environmental stewardship, and long-term adaptability within compact urban spaces.
The penthouse designed by Roland Stanczyk is a contemporary, two level apartment that masterfully combines functionality, aesthetics, and comfort.
