This product consists of a series of stationeries which is inspired by a dancer wearing red shoes. The stationeries include a pair of compasses, a paper knife, an eraser and a tape measure. The compasses are inspired by a ballet dancer and the paper knife is like a "skater" on the paper. The eraser has three layers, from skin to flesh to bone marrow. The tape measure is pulled out from the barrel part of the shoe as if it is an elegant and slim leg.

Production Technology

The design background is based on study and office space. It is suitable for users who need to draw, measure and make models. Stationery is made of nontoxic and light plastic (pp).

Design Challenge

In the design process of "Table Dancers", we adjusted the shape and size of stationery many times, and finally determined the appropriate proportion. On the basis of satisfying the use function, the plan has been finally determined after consulting the opinions of many users. We hope that this design can change people's understanding and cognition of stationery. Easy use and accuracy are not the only characteristics of stationery.

Project Duration

The project will start in Tianjin in September 2019 and be completed in Tianjin in October 2019.

Operation Flow

Users can study or work through "Table Dancers". The compasses roll out circles on the paper like ballerinas and the paper knife is like a “skater” on the paper. In the process of using eraser, users can be pleasantly surprised to find the changes of eraser, creating inspiration for users to work. The tape measure is pulled out of the shoe barrel like a long leg, elegant and beautiful. They all remind the user not to neglect the pleasure of life while busy working.

Research

"Table Dancers" is a stationery design. We apply four wonderful forms of dancers to four different stationery items, including compasses, a paper knife, an eraser and a tape measure. We determine the size through man-machine data analysis, and improve the design by making models. At present, people all regard stationery as a tool with only useful value. We need to add emotional elements to stationery and know that accuracy and convenience are not the only characteristics of stationery.

Inspiration

People all regard stationery as a tool with only useful value. Is it easy to operate? Is it accurate? But we think stationery is more like our working partners. They also have life. We focus on people's emotional needs and design "Table Dancers". Inspired by dancers wearing red shoes, the stationeries include a pair of compasses, a paper knife, an eraser and a tape measure. Users can feel the pleasure of work through "Table Dancers" and we should always remember that life is beautiful.

Project Overview

Table Dancers Stationery has been a Bronze winner in the Art and Stationery Supplies Design award category in the year 2019 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality.
