The Gatorade Rookie Bottle was launched in February 2024: a new stainless steel bottle designed to meet the unique needs of younger competitors. Because their thirst is different, the Rookie Bottle needed to be different. To perfect the new design, the company took feedback and insights directly from parents and their youth athletes. With their help, three crucial features and functions were identified: mobility, durability and cleanability.

Unique Properties

In February 2024, we launched The Gatorade Rookie Bottle, a new stainless steel bottle designed to meet the unique needs of younger competitors. Because their thirst is different, the Rookie Bottle needed to be different. To perfect the new design, we took feedback and insights directly from parents and their youth athletes. With their help, we identified three crucial features and functions: mobility, durability and cleanability.

Inspiration

When it comes to hydration, kids don't need as much volume; likewise, the larger size makes it harder for them to hold and drink from larger bottles. Even aspiring athletes tend to drop their bottles often, so we created a durable design, complete with a built-in carrying handle and dent-resistant shell that protects the bottle from drops. Plus, we added a leak-proof straw cap to minimize spills, and a double-wall stainless steel interior that provides more than 24 hours of insulation.

Project Overview

Gatorade Rookie Bottle Stainless Steel Bottle has been a Silver winner in the Advertising, Marketing and Communication Design award category in the year 2024 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill. Silver A' Design Award recipients are recognized for their contribution to raising industry standards and advancing the practice of design. Their work often incorporates original innovations and elicits a strong emotional response, making a notable impact on the improvement of everyday life.
