Nature has always been one of the most important sources of inspiration for designers. The idea came to designers' minds by looking into the space and the image of Milk Way Galaxy.The most important aspect in this design was to create a unique form. Many designs that are in the market focus on making the most clear ice but in this presented design, the designers intentionally focused on the forms which are made by the minerals while the water turns into ice, to be more clear the designers transformed a natural defect into a beautiful effect. This design creates a spiral spherical form.

Production Technology
The presented design is a mold which creates a spiral spherical shape, it could be used to make ice or chocolate bars, cakes, jelly, etc. The mold has two main parts, a silicon part which is the most important piece of this design. The silicone part is made from a food grade flexible silicon. The second part is a plastic frame to hold the silicon part vertically.
Design Challenge
The most challenging aspect was to design a mold that has the correct cutting point and design it in a way that could be used easily and get the expected form with no trouble. Also choosing the material was challenging, the designers had to do a vast research on different types of silicon and other materials that provides the expected results.
Project Duration
The project started and finished during the Summer of 2019.
Operation Flow
One of the important points while designing a product is to consider a way that it could perform better comparing to other designs. The presented design has several advantages in comparison to other designs. Because of its special form it takes less time to make ice, also it is important to mention that the spiral shape that provides a larger contact surface with the drink makes it able to cool the drink much faster. Not to mention that with this design, the designers minimized the amount of water used to make the same size ice balls.
Research
The designers had to do a vast research on different types of silicon and other materials that operate the same and also consider the exact amount of flexibility which was needed. If the exact amount of flexibility was not considered, it could cause a deformation in the final result. too much flexibility or too much hardness could lead the result into failure.
Inspiration
Nature has always been one of the most important sources of inspiration for designers. The idea came to designers' minds by looking into the space and the image of Milk Way Galaxy.Considering the fact that the minerals inside water causes irregular globes and streaks appearing inside the ice when water turns into ice and the similarity that it has with the image of galaxy, it stroke into designers' minds to use all this to create an ice that could represent a galaxy. Imagine having a drink with a piece of ice that reminds you of a galaxy. A galaxy floating in your glass!
